Home for Good at Watchet Baptist

On Sunday 12 May, Watchet Baptist Church welcomed Stu Dendy, from Home for Good, to one of our “big church” gatherings.

Stu came with stories, activities, a video and a parachute – and taught from Isaiah about enlarging our tents to make space for others.

Home for Good is a Christian charity that encourages and resources churches around fostering, adoption and supported lodgings. They are not an agency but do provide information and support around children and the care system. They also work in partnership with local authorities and lobby national government.

With the help of the parachute, we got to grips with what it means to “Spread out! Think big! Use plenty of rope, drive the tent pegs deep. You’re going to need lots of elbow room for your growing family.” (Isaiah 54:2) Stu got us thinking about how much God’s people is about family and encouraged us to be part of a campaign that is looking for 38,000 people who would pledge to pray for the 38,000 children who will enter the care system for the first time in the next 12 months.
