Ecological Justice

Ecological Justice

As an Association we want to affirm that we believe God created the world and we are called be good stewards of it.

This should encourage us to take seriously issues of ecological justice.  We believe the church should be an example to society of how to do things differently.

For more information, or if you have ideas and resources you want to share with others, please contact our Ecological Justice co-ordinator, Rev Chris Woodman.

  • Becoming an Eco-Church

A Rocha UK has a free online survey and supporting resources designed to equip your church to express your care for God’s world in your worship and teaching; in how you look after your buildings and land; in how you engage with your local community and in global campaigns, and in the personal lifestyles of your congregation.

They have a reward system and the actions you take will count towards a prestigious Eco Church Award at Bronze, Silver or Gold level.

Their vision is for churches of all denominations to care for creation as an integral part of loving their neighbours and following God faithfully.

Lyme Regis Baptist Church (Rev Chris Woodman) have been very involved in this and the church are working towards the Gold award. Chris will be able to give advice and support to other churches. Currently we have 17 churches registered and the churches with awards are:

    • Lyme Regis: Silver
    • Kilmington: Silver
    • Devonport: Silver
    • The Wave: Silver
