Reporting a Safeguarding Concern
If a Safeguarding concern has arisen in your church/missional community, you should first report your concern to the named Designated Person in your setting.

Introducing Kath Needham, our Safeguarding Lead
Kath writes,
Hello!! My name is Kath Needham and I am the new Partnership Safeguarding Lead for South West Baptist Association, West of England Baptist Network and South Wales Baptist Association.
I am a Christian and an active member of my local Baptist Church in Worle, Weston-super-Mare. I have a heart for service and pastoral care. I am a qualified Social Worker and, for over 20 years, have been working predominantly in adult social care in both the voluntary and statutory sector. I am really excited to have this opportunity to bring together my professional skills and experiences, as well as my passion to ensure church is a welcoming, safe and inclusive place for everybody.
I enjoy the great outdoors and, with my husband and/or friends, spend many an hour trundling around the hills and trails locally and further afield in the UK when the opportunity arises.
Training
We are now offering Safeguarding training at Levels 2 & 3.
- Level 2 is for ministers, trustees/deacons, leaders, DPS and all those who work with children, young people and/or adults at risk.
- Level 3 is for ministers, trustees/deacons, leaders and DPS only. You need to have completed Level 2 training before attending Level 3.
The charge is £20 per person for each session. Level 2 is from 9.30am to 12.30pm and Level 3 is from 1.15-4.30pm.
The training dates we currently have planned are below. However, more are being added all the time, so do keep checking back.

We expect places to be filled very quickly so please do book as soon as you can.
