Reporting a Safeguarding Concern
If a Safeguarding concern has arisen in your church/missional community and you are a member of the South West Baptist Association, you should first report it to the named Designated Person in your setting. You can contact our Safeguarding Lead (Rob Dymond) should you wish to discuss your concerns at anytime.
Rob is contactable by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
If the concern is urgent, Rob can be contacted by phone by selecting option 1 after dialling 01392 433 533.
Introducing our Safeguarding Lead, Rob Dymond
Rob is the Safeguarding Trustee for the South West Baptist Association and takes the lead in offering a point of contact for Safeguarding concerns within our family of churches.
Rob writes, "I have been involved in Safeguarding for over 15 years, having led the Safeguarding team at Mutley Baptist Church, Plymouth from 2013 to 2017. I sat on the Plymouth Safeguarding Children Board as a lay member and attended relevant Local Authority training. My roles have resulted working closely with colleagues in Social Care to ensure children in the church community are kept safe."
For Designated Persons & Safeguarding Trustees
This training is now fully booked. We are operating a waiting list in case of any cancellations and also to gauge whether there would be a sufficient number of people wanting to book to offer a second training opportunity. If you would like to add your name + church + phone number to the waiting list, please email Kathy Browne: email@example.com
We are pleased to offer online training for all Designated Persons & Trustees for Safeguarding at our Association churches. Please note that this is a one-off opportunity for DPS training.

The aim of the sessions is to provide training and support for those who hold responsibility for overseeing, leading and coordinating Safeguarding provision in our churches.
They are suitable for your Designated Persons and Safeguarding Trustees – please encourage all concerned to take this opportunity as we are not able to offer this kind of training on a regular basis.
The cost is £10 per person for the two sessions.

Saturday 15 May 9.30 – 12.00

Regular Training for all those who work with children and/or young people
We are offering both Level 2 and Level 3 training sessions on the dates below.
Level 2 runs from 9.30am to 1.00pm and Level 3 runs from 1.30-5.00pm on the same date.
Level 2 is for the Minister, Trustees, Designated Person for Safeguarding and all those who work with children and/or young people.
Level 3 is for the Minister, Trustees and Designated Person for Safeguarding.
It is strongly recommended that attendees complete Level 2 first, as there is information in Level 2 which will not be covered again in Level 3. The assumption will be that anyone attending Level 3 will already have attended Level 2.
